So very glad that my date brought me here!  While it is a very intimate... and cozy restaurant, we had dinner with friends.  Although, guys... if you happen to be on a date in Swansea and want some place to take your date, stop in here because she'll be impressed.  While they are known for their seafood, if you are not a fan of seafood there are options for you as well!  We were late for our reservation, but they still sat us.

Not only were we there in a group, but there were couples, and even a few families, so it appears as though it is popular with a wide range of people.  I shared a starter with my date... it was scallops with a side of laverbread.  It was the first time I had laverbread and unfortunately I just didn't like it, but my date really seemed to enjoy it.  The scallops were wonderful!  Don't think I've ever had scallops so fresh.  I ordered the salmon with a nicoise salad.  The salmon was just done wonderfully... not overcooked at all.  The nicoise salad... garnish... whatever it was, I was not as impressed with it.  I did have the sauteed potatoes, which were wonderful as well!  My date had the scallops, sea bass, and seafood parcel.  I tasted the sea bass and it was even better than my salmon!

For dessert, we had the trio of bread pudding, apple pie, and creme brulee...  Skip the trio and go for the bread pudding.  Out of the three it was the best and I had wished I had just ordered the bread pudding!  The staff were very attentive and very patient with us...  there was quite a bit of wine and bubbly flowing, so you can imagine that our table may have been a handful for them, but they handled it very well!

I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere (no, not just because of the wine and champagne...) and hope to go back and try some of the other dishes... and of course have more of that bread pudding!

One of the best meals out I have had in a long time........mozzarella, tomatoes and balsamic vinegar, cod fillet with mussels - not too fiddly, and a zingy lemon tart. Perfect presentation.
Relaxed and cosy, attentive staff. I plan to eat my way through the menu....it's not just seafood by the way.

Visited Hanson at Chelsea with a friend. The restaurant is situated in the centre of Swansea off St. Marys Street near the Cross Keys Pub & Hogarth's Gin Palace. I was recommended the place by a work colleague who had the three course set lunch. The occasion I was going up for was a Bill Bailey gig in Swansea Grand, with him on his Larks in Transit Tour. So we decided to have a pre-theatre lunch (and a boozy, lazy afternoon). We also went for a three course lunch with a bottle of red wine to wash it all down. I had the rabbit, chicken & ham hock terrine with apricot & ginger chutney with sourdough toast for starters. Followed by a main of steak Diane with vegetable & roast potatoes. Finally the piece de-resistance the desert - bread and butter brioche pudding with honey & whiskey. My friend had similar only he had the chicken rillettes as a starter. The meal was fantastic to the taste & well presented. The restaurant is very small, narrow & cosy. (Dare I say compact & bijou?) The staff are very helpful esp. with wine recommendations. They do have a full a la carte menu for evenings. When we return to the restaurant at a later date, my friends have their eye on the seven courses for £40s (compare that to the lunch of three courses for £20). This is well worth a visit for fans of fine dining or that special date, family celebration etc. Look forward to going back there.

I was here earlier this evening but as I was in the basement I had no signal. If they offer you a seat, check it out first as the smell of damp was overpowering. It's a shame because the food was very nice and the staff very friendly. Tempura monkfish and chips as a main was posh fish and chips with a smear of minted peas and tartar sauce. The scallops on risotto I had as a starter were excellent.
